Lenten Darkness
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:1-5)
John begins his gospel account with the assurance that darkness has failed to overcome the light.
But it tried.
This Lenten season focus your attention on Jesus, as He walks through the thickest, deepest darkness the world has ever known. Offer Him the ministry of your presence, staying near His side while He endures the journey toward the cross. A witness to the paradox—that it is in the darkness that Light shines out most brightly.
