Day 3

“As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew.  They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.  ‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will send you out to fish for people.’” – Matthew 4:18-19

Scripture Reading: Matthew 4:18-22

Jesus dramatically altered the lives of these early disciples, giving their lives eternal purpose far beyond anything they could have ever imagined.

Much of what they actually did with Jesus seems insignificant.  Aside from a little preaching and a few healings, they mostly just followed Him around the countryside.  But this time was vital for learning about the thing they most needed to know in order to take up Jesus’s ministry after His death. Discipleship.

While we might not know the plans God has for us in this moment, we do know that the plans He has for us are good.

Thought for the Day: With Jesus, we have purpose.
