Gospel of Peace

“[Stand firm then]…with feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” — (Ephesians 6:15)

We talk a lot about peace in our churches, but what exactly is it, and what determines whether or not we experience it in our lives? Is peace dependent on our outward circumstances or on something else altogether? And what does it mean that Jesus—our Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6)—warned His followers: “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the Earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.” (Matthew 10:34)

In this study you will find a collection of materials related to the idea of living with feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Study materials include scripture, song lyrics, spiritual writings, and other sources. The accompanying questions are designed to encourage discussion in a small group setting.

Fair warning: This study does not provide any definitive answers. Rather, it is intended as a platform for helping a community of believers to wrestle together for deeper understanding of what peace means and how we can experience more of it in our lives as Christ-followers.
