Week #10

Blindness

Scripture Reading: Luke 18:35-43

Opening Question:

What does Jesus say or do in this passage that most surprises you?

Core Question 1:

What evidence do you see of the blind man’s desperation in this passage? What healing does the man receive? What, if anything, does it cost him?

Core Question 2:

Do you see any spiritual blindness in this passage? Are there any people who seem to be unable see God’s presence and purpose?

Core Question 3:

What does Timothy Keller, author of Encounters With Jesus, believe about spiritual blindness? Do you agree?

“…there is in every human being an inherent spiritual blindness…faith is impossible without supernatural intervention by God himself.”

Can you relate to the feeling of being spiritually blind, that you are somehow missing God’s presence in your life?

Concluding Question:

Hear Jesus’s words spoken to you, “What do you want me to do for you?” What would you like to be able to see more clearly as a follower of Jesus?
